Cold starts change the whole operating window
The startup state of a warehouse conveyor or carton line is not the same as the warmed-up state. That distinction needs to show up in the validation plan.
The fastest fix is to log supply voltage, ambient, and first-cycle recovery together. Otherwise teams keep retuning only the ramp.
- Measure the first three cycles after power-on, not only steady-state behavior.
- Review grease drag and cable stiffness together with motor current.
- Do not sign off cold-start behavior from a room-temperature FAT only.
Cold-start checks
A practical inspection path for field engineers.
| Check | Expected result | If it fails |
|---|---|---|
| Bus voltage at first move | > threshold | Check supply sizing and cable length. |
| First-cycle motion | No stall | Reduce ramp or increase reserve torque. |
| Warm-up recovery | Stable within 3 cycles | Review lubrication and drag load. |
